MaKinna Smith

An estimated two thousand people — ranging from firefighters to drag racers to fellow students at Jefferson County High — showed up last Thursday to memorialize Makinna Smith, who seems to have made more friends in her 16 years than most can count in 70.

“She was just a remarkable young lady — one of a kind,” her minister, Tom Shelton of English Creek Baptist Church, said. “I don’t think she ever met a stranger. She liked to give you a hug and tell you she loved you.”
