With AEC Manager Greg Williams watching in the background, Trilight President Jonathan West details his company’s plans for installing high-speed fiber optic service to the utility’s customers. – DALE GENTRY | THE STANDARD BANNER

Appalachian Electric Cooperative is partnering with new company Trilight to bring high speed fiber optic broadband, video, and phone service to its 47,000 customers, AEC General Manager Greg Williams announced during Saturday’s annual meeting.

“The good news is that we have already begun,” Williams said of the task of webbing AEC’s service area with fiber optic lines. “We have already built the backbone — or transport — fiber to most of our communities with the goal to finish by early next year. Now we’re building out the network in parts of Jefferson City and Dandridge served by our substations in those areas.”
