Community Center lap pool reopens

Director of Parks and Recreation Walter Gibson and swimmer Kieran Braun talk about the newly reopened Community Center lap pool Tuesday afternoon. Thus far, the Center is averaging around 40 patrons daily, which should increase as people get comfortable and there aren’t more spikes. – MARK BROWN | THE STANDARD BANNER

Like a water source that has been abruptly shut down for a season, Jefferson City’s swimming pools are coming back online, but not at full bore.

The Community Center’s pool is open daily for two, three-hour sessions, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., to accommodate early risers, and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Center’s pool is regulated for lap swimming only and, given continued precautions, those who want to use it must reserve a slot before showing up.
