Photographers have been gathering at the Douglas Dam tailwaters recently to take photos of bald eagles that have been congregating to fish. Several have caught striking photos of eagles taking fish from the river. The eagles are probably gathering because of the abundant food supply, biologists say. The tailwater area is also the site of over a dozen great blue heron nests. – STEVE MARION | THE STANDARD BANNER
