Dr. Charles Fowler and his wife Sandra were tag-teaming at Carson-Newman University’s parent orientation lunch two Saturdays ago. They were working different tables on the plaza between Russell and Blye-Poteat Halls to meet as many as possible of the 800 parents expected to be on hand by event planners.

Responding to a dad’s question regarding how much money his daughter might need as school opened the following Monday, C-N’s new leader pondered a second or two and then said, “I would say, to be safe, just go ahead and give her a bunch of cash and…”
