A four-year-old child was seriously injured on Douglas Lake Sunday afternoon after being struck by the propeller of a pontoon boat.

Sevierville’s Bill Thomas Wardlow Jr., 44, was swimming with three children, all under the age of eight, when they were separated by wind from their rented vessel around 3 p.m. TWRA Boating Enforcement Officer Chase Rich reported that Starsha Lynn Tuley, 28, of Knoxville, was on the boat, started the engine and sought to return toward the swimmers in an effort to pick them up.
