Jennifer Bates, the new owner of Dandridge’s Owens Restaurant

Jennifer Bates, the new owner of Dandridge’s Owens Restaurant welcomes longtime regular Herbert Minton for lunch on a recent Friday. She says she is grateful for the “wonderful reputation” the eatery has had since John and Glenda Owens opened it seven years ago and is pleased to meet new people while reconnecting with old friends from across the county. – MARK BROWN | THE STANDARD BANNER

“A dream is a wish your heart makes,“ sang Cinderella in Disney’s animated classic of 70 years ago.

Jennifer Bates gets that. While some girls grow up wanting to be a Disney princess, Jennifer has wanted to be a restauranteur most of her life. The heart-wish came true a few weeks ago when she purchased Owens Restaurant, a Dandridge fixture since 2012 with roots that go back to the Wagon Wheel of a generation ago.
