Nolen retires

“When the boy jumped through the window to grab a seat in class, he was wearing blood-spattered overalls and dirty boots. I asked why he was late and he simply said, ‘My cow was calving and needed my help.’”

It was only the second year teaching Jefferson County High English for the city girl from Ohio, Teresa Nolen. She had a lot to learn when she began her career at the high school 23 years ago.
