Old Samaritan House burned

The Jefferson City Fire Department coordinated the burning of the old Samaritan House building on Old Andrew Johnson Highway Saturday, providing firefighters from Jefferson City and New Market some valuable training experience. The property is now owned by The Standard Banner. Once the debris is cleaned up, Publisher Dale Gentry said plans are to fill in the basement area and plant grass, creating green space in the downtown area. – DALE GENTRY | THE STANDARD BANNER
