The arraignment for William David Phillips, who stands accused of three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder, has been delayed again, this time until October 1 at 9 a.m. Phillips was slated to appear in Sessions Court before Judge Will Roach in Dandridge Tuesday morning.

Court officials say this delay is necessary to evaluate Phillips before arraingments. Previous postponements happened after the Fourth District Public Defender’s office recused itself from the case on June 25 and then when Knoxville attorney Douglas Trant was retained as Phillips’s his legal counsel shortly before the secondly scheduled court date on July 2.
