The Jefferson County School Board is going ahead with planning for construction of two new elementary schools — but with a careful look at potential financing first.

Early last month, the Board had placed motions to construct new 600-student facilities for Jefferson and Piedmont elementary on hold until July, but in last Thursday night’s meeting they voted 6-1 to go ahead. The Board also gave a green light to the first phase of “Operation Upgrade,” $400,000 in capital improvements at all schools.
