Sinkhole emerges

Crewmembers from Jefferson City Public Works were on-site yesterday to address complications from a sinkhole that collapsed at 1:30 a.m. in front of 1438 Maple Avenue. The incident, just across West Jefferson Street from the senior citizens’ center, included the rupture of a water main. Resident Linda Gass said she and husband Charlie lost a section of their driveway and a favorite dogwood tree. Interim Director of Public Works Porter Massengill was in the field working on related issues and therefore unavailable for damage assessment or comment. – SUBMITTED
