What a difference a couple of years can make.

In spring of 2018, the Jefferson County Animal Shelter’s future was anything but certain. The local Humane Society chapter was in the process of withdrawing its support after a split in the volunteer leadership. County Commission was hesitant about continued funding for the shelter, and the building itself was falling into poor condition, devoid of useable dog kennels and decent plumbing and windows.
