Morristown’s Taylor Alonzo (front) oversees the plant’s injection molding operation. The 30-station machine is central to the manufacturing process. Other members of his team are (back to front) Thomas Jackson, Nathan Sharp and Efran Alonso. – RONNIE HOUSLEY | THE STANDARD BANNER

Employees of Jefferson City’s Footwear Industries of Tennessee (FIT) are perhaps celebrating the Fourth of July a little differently today than previous years. Wherever they may be – watching parades, on the lake, cooking out or even resting – there might be professional pride and a little patriotic swagger in their strides.

Today, Michigan-based Wolverine Worldwide releases across the country its new Duratrack Rampart line of boots. The Independence Day reveal represents months of hard work by FIT’s 75 or so employees. The fruits of their extended shift labor have been boxed, crated and shipped across the country.
