Betty Lee King Hobbs, age 88, passed away May 28, 2019 in Marietta, GA from complications after a recent fall. She was born February 1, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee to John Lee King and Meta Williams King. Mrs. Hobbs was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee until failing health required a move to Georgia to be closer to family.

Mrs. Hobbs was the devoted wife of Rev. Charles Hobbs and they made their home in New Market, Tennessee. Mr. Hobbs and Miss King married on June 11, 1954 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Mrs. Hobbs was the exemplary wife, supportive of her husband, his ministry and work in every way. She had the caring heart of a pastor’s wife, the sweet smile of a kind friend, and a loving dedication that supported his ministry faithfully. They were blessed with the birth of two children, Rebekah Lynne and David Alan. Mrs. Hobbs greatest fulfillment came in creating a home that would enrich the lives of her family. In later years, she enjoyed employment at Carson-Newman College as a librarian, and later as secretary for the Education Department. She was patient, loving, and kind. Her ready smile warmed the hearts of all around her. Mrs. Hobbs was devoted to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and served churches in many capacities over the years, from Sunday School teacher in the Beginner’s Department (toddlers) to choir member, to Adult Sunday School teacher.
