Several local residents have ridden the waves of good news out of Cincinnati, Ohio, and South Bend, Indiana, for the last couple of weeks.

Dennis Wells, a 1986 Carson-Newman alumnus, accomplished a lifelong dream by qualifying for and competing in the U.S. Senior Open this past weekend. He qualified for the elite tournament by shooting a 1-under par 70 at Worthington Hills Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. One of 69 players seeking two Open slots, he finished in a draw for second and then won a playoff for his dream ticket.
