High five!

Andy Smith gives Coach Heather Batson a big smile and a high five after scoring. – RONNIE HOUSLEY | THE STANDARD BANNER

A 7:30 p.m. start seems late for a little league game but there is logic for that. Almost everything in Challenger Division Little League baseball is logical, but it’s often a logic of the heart.

It’s also an oddly cool evening for mid-June. For some spectators, it is past oddly cool – it is cold. Some have sweatshirts and others are covered up in their camp chairs or are wrapped in blankets as they sit on the grass berm at Field #5.
