Despite their short run in the recent double-elimination Little League tournament, the South Jefferson All-Stars coach-pitch baseball team grew in both their love and understanding of the game thanks to the competitive atmosphere and their coaching throughout the event.

The All-Stars lost both games to the Smoky Mountain (Newport), 15-3 and 13-6, on June 27-28, but saw tremendous growth. After travelling to Northwest Elementary in Newport, the All-Stars were nervous and struggled to compete at their normal levels, but after getting used to the atmosphere they made great strides offensively and defensively by the end of the tournament.
