Church holds ‘Blessing of the Animals’

Covid-19 was no match for the “Blessing of the Animals” held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Dandridge on Saturday. Reverend Brad Napier opened the church’s front yard, inviting all furry creatures to attend this special service just for them. Janet Drass-Talbot (left) brought her adopted rescue Chihuahua Chia – who seemed a bit leery about Rev. Napier – to be blessed. The tradition has been practiced for many years by churches all over the world. “People love their pets, treat them as family, and grieve when they lose them,” Napier said.  – STEVEN LLOYD | THE STANDARD BANNER
