A proposal that would provide $17 million for a Jefferson Elementary School project is headed to County Commission next week without a recommendation from budget committee.

A 2019 capital needs study deemed the school, constructed 70 years ago, to be in the worst shape of any local educational facility. However, School Board’s request for $20 million to construct a new building has been turned down by Commission several times, in part due to current economic uncertainties.
