Firefighters worked for 20 minutes to extricate the victim of a box truck accident on Interstate 40 Monday morning. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. – SUBMITTED

A Newport man died Monday morning when the box truck he was driving collided with the back of an eighteen-wheeler near a construction zone on Interstate 40, troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

Brandon Large, 32, was killed in the 11:20 a.m. accident in the eastbound lanes near mile marker 429, Trooper Ethan Shults reported.
