Learning through the newspaper

Students in Sandy Muncy’s third grade class at Jefferson Elementary School hold up their copies of The Standard Banner last Thursday, while doing activities involving the paper. The class is one of 77 countywide that receive papers during the school year as part of the Newspaper In Education program. Included in each issue is the KidScoop page, written especially for school children. Pictured in the front row, from left, are Donovan Walsh, Violett Thompson, and Allison Sanchez. In the second row, from left, are Amelia Moody, Dawson Yeary, Ryan Lusk, Brantley Robinson, CJ Foster, and Bentley Johnson. In back are Paisyn Turner, Quinlyn Smith, and Kylah Bennett. The program is made possible by the following sponsors: Walmart, Thomas Heating & Cooling, Cate Insurance Agency, Hang-N-Dry Drywall Contractor, Seal Heat and Air, The Home Team Real Estate Company, Town & Country Animal Hospitals, and Ed LaFleur, insurance agent. – DALE GENTRY | THE STANDARD BANNER
