‘Music on the Town’ opens to large crowd

“Music on the Town” in Dandridge opened its fall run Thursday evening with a triple bill event. The evening started with a small thunderstorm and rain followed by clearing sky's at show time. The second act on the agenda was a Quilts of Valor ceremony for local resident Mary McCoig in honor of her service in the U.S. Marine Corp, followed by the main attraction from the award winning Balsam Range Bluegrass band. The area around the stage was full of enthusiastic music lovers.  The weekly “Music on the Town” concert series continues through September 30. Recipient of a “Quilts of Valor” is veteran Mary McCoig (middle) with Quilts of Valor representative Kathleen Van Orsdel (left) and Jeri Regenold.  – STEVEN LLOYD | THE STANDARD BANNER
