Thompson scores inside

Jacob Thompson, who led Jefferson County with 24 points, goes up for a first-half shot against Carter defenders Kaleb Harper (left) and Colby Reynolds.

DANDRIDGE - Jacob Thompson scored 24 points to lead Jefferson County High to a thrilling 80-75 win over Carter Friday night, but his best work might have been done on the defensive side of the floor.

The talented senior took on the task of guarding the Hornets’ leading scorer Colby Reynolds in the second half, holding him to 9 points after Reynolds torched the Patriots for 20 in the first half.
